June 2026 Hindu Festival Calendar: Nirjala Ekadashi, Vat Purnima And Major Religious Observances To Hold Special Significance

June 2026 will witness several major Hindu fasts and festivals including Nirjala Ekadashi, Vat Purnima, Gayatri Jayanti and Ram-Lakshman Jayanti. The month also carries major astrological significance due to important planetary transitions and the conclusion of the Adhik month in the Hindu calendar.

The month of June 2026 is set to hold immense religious and astrological importance in Hinduism, with several major fasts, festivals, anniversaries and planetary transitions scheduled throughout the month. According to the Hindu calendar, observances such as Nirjala Ekadashi, Vat Purnima, Ram-Lakshman Jayanti and several sacred fasting rituals will be celebrated during this period. Religious scholars believe that performing worship and rituals with proper traditions during these occasions brings prosperity, happiness and spiritual merit to households. The month will also be considered highly significant from an astrological perspective as several major planetary transits are expected to influence zodiac signs positively.

The sequence of religious observances will begin on June 3, 2026, with Vibhavan Sankashti. Adhik Bhanu Saptami will be observed on June 7, while Adhik Kalashtami and Monthly Krishna Janmashtami will fall on June 8. Param Ekadashi will be observed on June 11.

Nirjala Ekadashi in 2026 will hold exceptional importance due to a rare calendar alignment caused by the Adhik month occurring during Jyeshtha. Traditionally, the fast is observed a day after Ganga Dussehra, but this year Padminee Ekadashi was observed after Ganga Dussehra because of the additional lunar month. As a result, Nirjala Ekadashi will now be observed on June 25, 2026, after the completion of the Adhik month.

Nirjala Ekadashi is regarded as one of the strictest fasting rituals in Hinduism because devotees abstain from consuming even water during the fast. Religious belief holds that observing Nirjala Ekadashi grants devotees the spiritual merit equivalent to observing all Ekadashi fasts of the year.

Vat Purnima Vrat will be observed on June 29, 2026. Married women observe this sacred fast for the long life, prosperity and well-being of their husbands. On this occasion, devotees worship the banyan tree as part of the ritual traditions. Vat Purnima is predominantly observed in South India, Maharashtra and Gujarat, while northern regions traditionally observe Vat Amavasya, which was celebrated earlier on May 16 this year.

The extensive lineup of fasts, anniversaries and sacred observances makes June 2026 one of the most spiritually significant months in the Hindu calendar, drawing devotees toward rituals, worship and astrological traditions across the country.
